Brunch. Everyone’s favorite meal, which combines sweet and savory comfort food and often a cheeky cocktail. Punch magazine wrote that the term Brunch was coined in Britain in 1895 to describe a Sunday meal for “Saturday-night carousers”. While not a Spanish tradition, Barcelona has a thriving brunch scene to satisfy every taste.

Irish couple Rebecca and Paul Coleman, already famous in Barcelona for their popular restaurants Milk and Marmalade, opened Firebug in early 2016. Situated in Eixample, Firebug offers a variety of international tapas sized plates, created with an emphasis on sharing.

La Esquina (“The Corner”) derives its name from its central location on the corner of Bergara and Balmes streets near Plaça de Catalunya. Backed by British chef Alan Stewart and London barista Louis, La Esquina is a “soulful” restaurant with artisanal values and a “Brit” touch.

Established in 2013 and located on the elegant Carrer Mandri, Once Upon a Time has a Parisian feel in both its decor and cuisine. Initially a tearoom, it has expanded to offer breakfast, brunch, lunch, tea and dinner.
