Milk was opened by an Irish couple in 2005 and has since grown to be among the most popular restaurants and cocktail bars in the area, frequented by expats and locals alike. The interior is cozy and intimate, with luxurious sofas, gilded frames, antique chandeliers and wallpaper by Australian designer Florence Broadhurst.
The menu and wine list changes seasonally and uses locally sourced produce purchased daily from the world famous Boqueria market. Try the Drunken Prawns (cooked in garlic and white wine served with tortilla wraps) or the Shaking Beef (Vietnamese bo luc lac, delicious strips of marinated beef with a lime dipping sauce on a bed of watercress, served with rice).
Milk is legendary for it’s ‘recovery brunch’, widely viewed as one of the best in Barcelona. Served from 9.00am to 4.30pm, brunch includes a variety of hearty and hangover soothing dishes, such as Huevos Ranchero (Mexican beans with a hint of cipotle pepper topped with soft fried eggs, pico de gallo, sour cream, rudolpho’s Mum’s hot sauce and corn tortilla chips).
A well rounded cocktail menu includes La Cucaracha (Tequila, Passion Fruit Licor, Passion Fruit, Apple Juice & Lime Juice) and prices are modest, starting at €5.00.
