History & Architecture

Conceived as part of Barcelona’s transformation for the 1992 Olympic Games, Hotel Arts officially opened in 1994, showcasing Bruce Graham’s striking steel-and-glass design that rises 154 meters alongside its twin, Torre Mapfre. Originally a 10-story structure, it was completed into its full 44-storey form after the Games and underwent a major renovation in 2006 to modernize its technology and interiors.

Today, the coastal landmark overlooks Barceloneta Beach and features Frank Gehry’s shimmering Peix sculpture, a favorite photo spot that shifts color with the sun. True to its name, Hotel Arts is a haven for creativity, with over 500 original artworks and collaborations with local art collectives enriching the guest experience.
