Xiringuito Escribà was founded in 1992, the year that the Olympic Games were held in Barcelona. Escribà offers a fantastic view over Bogatell beach and the Mediterranean sea.
The menu celebrates fresh, coastal Catalan cuisine with a focus on seafood and rice dishes. Diners can start with sharing platters like the signature Pica-Pica for two, oysters, anchovies, ceviche, or classic tapas such as croquettes and Andalusian-style squid. Lighter options include fresh salads like the traditional Xató.
The stars of the menu are their famous paellas and fideuàs cooked over wood fires, ranging from seafood and black rice to lobster and vegetarian options. There’s also an enticing selection of grilled or baked fish, shellfish, and hearty mains like beef sirloin or a wagyu burger.
Try the Sardines a la planxa (grilled sardines with smoked oil, garlic, and parsley) and the Arroz caldoso con bogavante (rice in lobster broth).
Joan Escribà is also famous for hailing from the famous baking family behind the Pastelería Escribà Gran Via which dates back to 1906, which explains the fabulous deserts.
