El Canalla (the rogue) opened in 2011 and is situated in the heart of Sarriá near the church. The restaurant serves Mediterranean and market cuisine, using locally sourced products. Guests can enjoy both the sunny terrace and the “El Villano” lounge, ideal for meals and private events.
The menu features meat, fish and vegetable dishes made using a Josper charcoal oven (combining the functions of an oven and grill). Dishes made with the Josper are available at dinner time from Monday to Friday and all day on the weekends.
The tapas menu includes favorites such as Aubergine chips with honey and lime, and Anchovies from L’Escala. Several hearty egg dishes are available such as fried eggs with homemade chips and foie. Among vegetable based plates, try the “Beluga” lentil salad with spinach, feta, candied onion and roasted eggplant. Meat lovers will appreciate the Iberian pork with glazed onions and baked potatoes. Meats are from Carnisseria A. Casanovas, a butcher in La Boqueria.
Deserts of the house include Chocolate ganache with olive oil caviar and a “mythical” Lemon Pie. The wine list was created by the wine club Wineissocial, using an original selection based on good quality at a good price.
The interior is decorated with the upbeat illustrations of the artist Laia Armengol.
