Carlos and Matilda was launched in October 2015, by co-owners Carla Travesset (Carlos) and Mathew Perovetz (Matilda). Mathew had 17 years of bartending experience in London before coming to Barcelona and had worked at Ocaña before opening C&M. Carla has a background the restaurant industry and had worked previously at the nearby Guzzo.
C&M specializes in classic cocktails and has a menu of ten drinks that changes monthly, with an emphasis on simple things done well. The minimalist interior was created by a Berlin based friend of Carla’s, using copper lamps, vintage mirrors and weathered wood stools. Real candles lend a romantic touch to an already fabulous location. The terrace seating takes you back in time, situated beside one of the best preserved parts of the Roman wall of Barcino.
