Situated in a historic building in the Eixample neighborhood near Passeig de Gràcia, Alma is a hotel that reveals the ‘alma’ (soul) of Barcelona.
Alma Barcelona goes beyond the boutique hotel concept and differentiates itself by offering the virtues of a contemporary, high-calibre urban hotel with all the trappings of journeys and hotels of the past.
The five star GL Alma Barcelona has 72 bedrooms spread over seven floors.
The Garden
The garden is an intimate area, a haven of peace in the centre of the city in which to relax and enjoy the hotel’s culinary offering or a cocktail. Tables for breakfast, lunch or dinner mix with comfortable sofas and hidden corners among the lush, leafy vegetation.
The Roof Terrace
The hotel also has a roof terrace of over 800 square metres that offers 360 degree views of the whole city. The terrace has a special menu for guests to enjoy while taking in the views.
View facing the La Sagrada Família.
Terrace view overlooking Antoni Gaudí‘s Casa Mila. In the distance, at the top of Mount Tibidabo is the Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor.
The Rooms
All 72 rooms are over 50 m2 in size, and can be grouped into two distinct styles: those with a contemporary design have views of the garden, while those of a renovated classicism overlook Calle Mallorca. The latter group are inspired by the typical Eixample apartment, with architectural elements such as slatted shutters and forged balconies that have a certain French air that is also very much of Barcelona.
Alma Barcelona is a clear demonstration of how the use of fine raw materials provides the most tangible and refined cleanliness. For example: shutters are substituted for wooden panels, there aren’t quilts but genuine Nordic rugs, there are no mats but leather. According to the guests one of the best aspects of the rooms are the mattresses, all made exclusively for Alma.
Thanks to the soft lighting, creating an atmosphere of semi darkness through the artificial sloped light, and the fine materials presented in their raw state Alma Barcelona offers comfortable surroundings that makes the guest feel as if in their own home.
Gastronomy
Alma Barcelona’s restaurant provides a functional daily menu, with popular classical dishes and careful combinations of flavors. It is cuisine for everyone, with a Mediterranean soul. Yet the secret of gastronomy at Alma Barcelona lies in the personalization of each mouthful. The chef not only offers dishes from the menu. A range of special dishes are available on demand, tailored to each clients taste and preference. Special dishes, unimaginable combinations, childhood tastes, dishes which marked a special moment… everything you could wish for is made in the kitchen at Alma.
Some of the most outstanding main dishes are: foie-gras terrine with quince; pumpkin rigatoni with sage and Idiazabal cream; Cod confit with spinach and romesco sauce, ox sirloin with herbed potatoes or old-style stuffed cheeks. For dessert don’t let the culinary enjoyment stop with cheeses, brioche and whipped cream or crisp panettone.
The hotel team can organize everything from an exclusive evening on the top-floor terrace, to an aperitif at the chef’s table in the kitchen, or a small meeting or dinner in the garden. The client can decide what, when and where, and Alma Barcelona will make it possible.

In addition to the nearby Casa Mila, we recommend guests pay a visit to Casa Lleó i Morera, a modernist masterpiece by the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner. Among restaurants within walking distance, we recommend La Pepita, famous for its creative tapas dishes. The link below leads to our affiliate, Booking.com.
