The striking neoclassical building occupied by the 5 star Grand Hotel Central was constructed in 1926 by the renowned architect Adolf Florensa, who drew inspiration from Chicago architecture of the period. Veteran hotelier Pau Guardans, creator of other luxury urban hotels including Hotel Único (Madrid) and the Hotel Miró (Bilbao) transformed the former office building to recreate the elegance of 1920’s Barcelona in a hotel.
Beautiful original features such as moulding, stairs and doors remain, mixed and modernized with contemporary, timeless and warm decor.
Sitting between the Gothic Quarter and El Born, the hotel offers 147 bright rooms and suites.
Grand Hotel Central is famous for its infinity pool overlooking El Born with the sea in the distance. A miriad of attractions including the Palau de la Música Catalana, Barcelona Cathedral, Picasso Museum and not least the wonderful beaches of Barceloneta are within walking distance of the hotel.
