Dos Palillos is located around the corner from the MACBA and CCCB, in the bohemian Raval neighborhood. The restaurant is situated in Casa Camper, a fashionable boutique hotel.
Cadaqués born Albert Raurich was chef de cuisine at Ferran Adrià’s elBulli restaurant from 1999 to 2007 before launching Dos Palillos in 2008. The concept behind the restaurant is to offer Asian tapas, but with the Spanish tapas philosophy, sharing the tapas instead of eating individual dishes. The menu is derived from a number of Asian cuisines including Japanese, Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese. The name Dos Palillos (two sticks) is a reference to both the chopsticks used by Asians and the toothpicks used in Spanish tapas bars. In 2012 Dos Palillos was awarded its first Michelin star.
Albert Raurich, works alongside his wife Tamae Imachi, a Japanese sommelier who also worked at elBulli restaurant. Takeshi Somekawa is the head chef. The restaurant is divided into two contrasting spaces: the Tapas Bar which one passes to reach the more formal Asian bar, where one can sit to eat, in front of the kitchen and be served by the chefs themselves. The interior design and the concept of differentiating the two areas was conceived by Fernando Amat of Vinçon.

The Tapas Bar
At the tapas bar the selection is always à la carte.

The Asian Bar
At the Asian Bar the gastronomic selection is the tasting menu, except for lunchtimes, when one can also choose from the menu.
