Bar del Pla

Bar del Pla is set on Carrer de Montcada, the same historic street that houses the Museu Picasso. Inside, the atmosphere is casual and energetic, with marble-topped counters, hydraulic floor tiles, and wooden tables that recall a classic neighborhood bar. The restaurant is the second project of Jaume Pla, who has built a loyal following by focusing on fresh seasonal products and a welcoming environment.

Food and Tapas

Bar del Pla, Barcelona

The menu combines comforting tradition with a touch of modern creativity. Guests can enjoy hearty “grandmother dishes” such as baby squid with salted pork belly or tender beef cheek braised in red wine. Carnivores are well served by the T-Bone steak, cooked to perfection over coals, while tapas lovers will find a wide range of temptations. Anchovies from L’Escala, crispy oxtail with foie gras, and croquettes filled with Idiazábal cheese or slow-cooked stew are just some of the highlights.

Wine and Pairings

Bar del Pla

Bar del Pla is also renowned for its exceptional wine program. The restaurant has four sommeliers who share a passion for natural and biodynamic wines, curating selections from across Catalonia and around the world. Sommelier Sergi Ruiz, who won the 2014 Nas d’Or award, is part of the team, ensuring expertise and flair in every recommendation. With around a dozen wines available by the glass and over a hundred references in the cellar, guests are guided toward pairings that enhance every dish.

Service and Experience

The pace of service reflects the lively nature of the bar itself, brisk and efficient yet also knowledgeable and attentive. The staff is quick to offer guidance through the menu, recommending the right balance of tapas and wine for the occasion. Desserts are worth saving room for, with decadent options such as creamy cheesecake and torrija, the Catalan-style French toast, providing a sweet finale. Reservations are strongly advised, as the restaurant draws both locals and visitors from midday until late into the night.
