Tio Joe is situated just above Diagonal on the border of Vila de Gràcia and Sarrià-Sant Gervasi. The interior has a rustic theme, creating a refreshing contrast from the hustle and bustle of the businesslike neighborhood it stands in. Burgers are the stars of the show here and pictured above is the epic Tita Lola, which includes cheddar cheese, crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickle, caramelised onion and a fried egg. The beef at Tio Joe is dry-aged for 30-40 days, adding a remarkable depth of flavor. A meal in itself, this is a burger that promises to satisfy even the most hearty of appetites. Vegetarian and vegan options are also available, such as the La Teca burger, made with oats, wheat, barley, oyster mushrooms, courgettes, soybeans and asparagus sprouts.
Starters include the succulent Costillas de Jabalí (boar ribs) slow roasted to tender perfection for 9 hours overnight and served with homemade barbeque sauce. Add some healthy greens with the Pimientos de Padrón (green peppers from Galicia), which as the menu says are sometimes spicy, sometimes not. Chef Eric explains that the secret formula is to use only the best organic, seasonal ingredients. To compliment the food Tio Joe serves their own blonde, fresh and aromatic craft beer.
Among the desert temptations is Sobao pasiego, a delicacy from Cantabria toasted and served with cream cheese and homemade jam.
Tio Joe is a family friendly restaurant that kids enjoy and the space is also available to be booked for private parties and events.
