Chinese contemporary artist and activist Ai Weiwei’s On the Table exhibiton is on display at the La Virreina Centre de la Imatge from the 5th of November 2014 through February 1st 2015.
Ai Weiwei worked with the architects Herzog & de Meuron as the artistic consultant on the Beijing National Stadium for the 2008 Olympics.
He is well known as a political activist and for his criticism of the Chinese Government’s stance on democracy and human rights.
On the Table covers his career from the time he spent in New York in the 1980’s to his recent work in China. The exhibit includes both some of his best-known art and previously unseen pieces.
Ai Weiwei makes use of a wide range of artistic mediums including photography, video, sculpture, graphic design and installations.
